Fishing, Adventure & Sports
Our Matanuska-Susitna Valley has some of the best trout and salmon fishing in Alaska. We have never known a persistent fisherman to leave dissatisfied. You will have the best luck with a guide who normally furnishes all the gear you need except hip boots and license.
One of the best guides in our area is FishTale River Guides: (907) 376-3687. A six-hour fishing trip costs approximately $140 per person, while eight-hour trips are $200 per person. Normally the best fishing is very early morning or late evening. We have had many of our guests over the last 22 years consistently praise FishTale.
Fisherman’s Choice also provides day and weekend guided fishing trips.
If you prefer to go out on your own, fishing for salmon, trout, dolly varden, grayling and northern pike can be done on any of the countless lakes and streams nearby.
Fishing licenses, tackle and good information can be obtained at 3 Rivers Fly & Tackle in Wasilla. They are located across from the Railroad Depot. (907) 373-5434.
Ron’s Riverboat Service: (907-495-7700) Also charters on the Susitna River drainage.
We also have many guests who go Halibut fishing at Whittier (2 hours each way), Seward (2.5 hours each way) and Homer (5 hours each way if driving, 2 hours if drive/fly). Try Crystal Sea Charters in Homer (800) 770-0181.
If you need additional guide information please let us know. We provide freezer space and a barbecue.

Bike & Kayak Rental
Eklutna Lake (a natural glacier fed lake and Anchorage’s water source) is 12 miles long. Lifetime Adventures (907-746-4644) has kayak, bike and other rentals and guided nature walks.
It is approximately 35 minutes to Eklutna Lake from the Inn. The bike trail which goes around the lake to Eklutna is one of the best bike trails (level) in the area. Twin Peak Trail in the Eklutna area is a two or three hour hike and a good place to view dall sheep.
